I eat happy … its that simple
I eat dairy, gluten, fat and sugar … I love the smell of bacon cooking, I have a cocktail or a coffee when I fancy one and I like to eat dirty, not clean …
it took me a while to make friends with food, but now I have its a very happy and fun relationship.
No fads, counting calories, sins or restricting to one food group, time of the day or whether it has a diet restricting rhyme with it … after being told not to play with food as a child, that is exactly now what I love to do now; cooking, baking and experimenting with ingredients, herbs, spices, tastes … I love to eat street food with my fingers and thats where the dirty bit comes in.
It makes me happy window shopping for and buying colourful funny, shaped vegetables covered in soil that are grown, sourced and produced by lovely local folk and are from a field down the road.
I get excited eating out at cafes, restaurants, and markets, trying food that is homemade and locally sourced and chatting with the people who made the dishes about their ideas for the recipes and the places they have traveled to and been inspired by to experiment with different flavours.
My philosophy to eating is simple, I avoid processed foods and aim to eat fresh, local and natural whole foods, I try to buy organic, as I have enough trouble trying to keep my hormones balanced without additional ones. I eat seasonably, so fresh and light in the summer (yes we do have one) and comforting and warming in the winter. I eat three meals a day, I rarely snack, because I don’t need to. I listen to my body and what it needs to feel energised and nourished, but most of all Its just about eating real food with a happy attitude and for me that’s healthy eating.
